Summary
School psychologists provide counselling and psychological assessment, work across primary and high schools and collaborate with teachers, students, parents and external agencies to enhance learning, wellbeing and mental health outcomes.
Key Accountabilities
* Provide counselling and psychological services to students individually and in groups, including short‐term therapeutic interventions as per training, experience and supervision.
* Engage with and implement the Professional Practice Framework for the NSW School Counselling Service.
* Collaborate with the principal, school executive, staff and student support services to improve student learning and wellbeing outcomes and implement departmental priorities.
* Contribute to the social, emotional and academic development of students and support schools with complex behavioural needs.
* Administer cognitive, social, emotional and behavioural assessments, report results and collaborate to improve outcomes.
* Work with learning and support teams, parents/carers and agencies to develop appropriate school‐based support for students.
* Respond as part of a team to assist schools experiencing serious incidents.
* Refer students and/or their families and carers to other agencies that will support the development of student health and wellbeing outcomes.
Essential Requirements
* Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy, Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG Inc. and the Diversity and Inclusion Strategy.
* General or Provisional Psychology Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
* Valid and current Working with Children Check clearance – NSW WWCC.
* Current and valid driver's licence with ability and willingness to travel between work sites.
* Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
Remuneration and Benefits
Package valued up to $182,461 plus incentives where applicable. Base salary ranges from $101,122 – $160,983 plus leave loading and employer's contribution to superannuation. Base salary rates above the minimum are available dependent on professional experience. Eligibility for a one‐off recruitment payment of $20,000 (pro‐rated for part‐time positions). Other benefits include leave types, recreation and flex leave, travel allowances, health and wellbeing benefits such as the Fitness Passport program and indemnity insurance covering psychologists working in schools.
