Commis Chef (Breakfast) | Part Time | InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto

You will be part of a tight-knit, creative kitchen team, preparing a variety of breakfast dishes, including our full buffet breakfast and in-room dining. A keen eye for presentation, consistency, and hygiene is essential, as your culinary creativity will help deliver a fantastic experience for our guests.

This role requires an early start, a strong eagerness to learn, and motivation to develop your skills within a dynamic hotel environment. If you thrive in a quick-paced setting and are excited to grow your culinary expertise, we want you on our team.

Your Day to Day

- Prepare and produce high quality food according to standard recipes.
- Work closely with the Front of House team to deliver the guest experience, including serving meals.
- Be flexible, primarily catering for full buffet breakfast and in-room breakfast, and occasionally assigned to the Club Lounge, while maintaining high standards and consistency across all guest experiences.
- Champion the identification and reporting of hazards, evaluate risks associated with them, and design and implement hazard control measures.
- Demonstrate a sound awareness of Crisis Management, HACCP & WH&S; policies and procedures. This includes accurate record keeping for HACCP.
- Support your team in delivering the highest level of guest satisfaction.
- Receive goods deliveries, maintaining accuracy of invoices for accounting purposes.
- Perform ad hoc duties as per business demands.

What We Need From You

- 6-12 months experience in a commercial kitchen with a passion for culinary arts.
- Qualifications in Commercial Cookery/Culinary Arts from a registered training provider.
- Literate – you’ll need a good grasp of reading, writing and basic maths.
- Team player with a collaborative approach to work.
- Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and be effective at time management.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced setting and prioritise workload.
- Look smart – wear your uniform with pride and adhere to personal grooming and hygiene standards.
- Flexibility to work a 7 day rotating roster – overnight, weekend and public holiday shifts are all part of the job.
- You must meet the legal requirements to work in Australia.
