About the Role
Based in Kewdale and reporting to the Engineering Manager APAC, we are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design, development and continuous improvement of mining products including excavator buckets, truck trays, water tanks, service bodies and other heavy fabricated mining equipment.
This role requires a practical engineer with strong heavy fabrication experience who understands product design, manufacturing, structural integrity and field performance. The successful candidate will contribute to product reliability improvements, engineering investigations and the development of robust mining solutions.
Essential Requirements
* Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
* Minimum 10 years' experience in mechanical design engineering within heavy fabrication, mining or mobile equipment industries.
* Proven experience designing welded structures and fabricated mining equipment.
* Strong understanding of weld design, structural integrity, fatigue and manufacturability.
* Experience conducting engineering investigations and root cause analysis.
* Advanced Creo experience and familiarity with Windchill PLM.
* Strong engineering calculation and problem‐solving skills.
* Knowledge of Australian Standards and mining industry practices.
Technical Skills
* Strong capability in engineering calculations and design verification.
Highly Desirable
* Experience in bucket, tray, water tank or mining attachment design.
* Experience with Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi, Liebherr or similar mining equipment.
* Knowledge of Hardox, Bisalloy and high‐strength structural steels.
* Experience supporting manufacturing and fabrication operations.
* Experience managing engineering changes and product improvement programs.
