STORE MANAGER FOR WELL KNOWN HARDWARE STORE

Full-time | Wodonga, VIC

Lead the team. Drive the standard. Keep the floor running like clockwork.

My client is a proudly independent, locally owned hardware store in Wodonga - known for expert advice, extensive product knowledge, and welcoming in-store experience. They are looking for a hands-on Store Manager who can keep things humming.

This role is ideal for someone who can combine operational know-how with strong leadership skills. You'll oversee daily floor operations, lead and motivate the team, and make sure our customers – from home-owners and DIY-ers, to tradies and hobby farmers – get the best service every time.

Key responsibilities:

- Lead and support the floor team to deliver exceptional customer service and product knowledge across hardware, powertools, garden and animal produce.
- Oversee daily store presentation, stock levels, and merchandising standards.
- Coordinate workflow to ensure smooth operations during peak and off-peak periods.
- Mentor and train team members, building skills and confidence across the floor.
- Work closely with staff to ensure shelves are always well-stocked, ticketed correctly, and displays are both tidy and engaging.
- Handle escalated customer enquiries and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
- Monitor inventory accuracy, manage stock replenishment, and oversee ordering and invoicing.
- Drive team compliance with store policies, safety procedures, and operational standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in service, processes, and team culture.
- Provide regular reporting to management.

What we're looking for:

- Previous experience in a retail leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong people management skills and the ability to lead by example.
- A customer-first approach with the confidence to handle complex enquiries.
- Solid organisational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
- Competence with point-of-sale and inventory systems, as well as general office software and apps.
- A proactive mindset with a knack for spotting and solving problems quickly.
- An understanding of – or interest in – hardware, trade, garden, or animal produce products, combined with the ability to learn fast.
