As our Engineering and Development department grows, we're pushing into new product development to fill gaps in existing solutions.
Job Description:
We're looking for a junior-level Embedded Systems / Electrical Engineer (1–3 years of professional experience, or several years of demonstrable hobby/project experience) to join our team in Geebung, QLD. This role will focus heavily on hardware design and firmware development, while also giving you exposure across the full product lifecycle — from concept and design, through testing and deployment, to ongoing improvements.
Key Responsibilities
* PCB design and system architecture
* Firmware development and microcontroller integration
* Application development, testing, and deployment
* Exploring and adopting new technologies in the emissions monitoring space
Essential Skills
* PCB design with relevant ECAD software (KiCad/Altium preferred).
* Experience with a range of microcontrollers. (STM32, ESP32, ARM, PIC etc.)
* Strong understanding of peripherals and integration with sensors.
* Firmware development in C/C++ (flexible with IDE / approach).
* Familiarity with core electronics equipment: soldering tools, oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.
* Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with a strong passion for technology and development.
Desirable
* RTOS (FreeRTOS or Zephyr).
* Python for scripting/prototyping.
* Familiarty with CI/CD practices.
* Experience with common communication protocols (RS-485/RS-232, Ethernet, I²C, SPI, CAN bus, etc.)
Relevant Study
* Electrical, Mechatronic, Software engineering (Bachelor or Masters) or
* Equivalent practical experience, with demonstrable projects.
