The Australian Alliance to End Homelessness (AAEH) is seeking a Fractional Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to provide senior technology leadership for a growing, national data platform supporting the end of homelessness in Australia.
AAEH is the national organisation driving the Advance to Zero movement. Our work supports communities across multiple states to use data to make homelessness rare, brief and non‑recurring.
About the Platform
* Built on Microsoft Dynamics 365
* Supported by a Microsoft Fabric analytics layer
* Used by frontline community service organisations across four states
* Supporting thousands of clients nationally
* Operating in government‑funded and regulated environments
* Supported by a small internal technology team (3–5 staff)
As demand grows nationally, we are strengthening our technology governance, architecture and operating model to ensure the platform is resilient, scalable and sustainable over the long term.
About the Role
This is a strategic, governance‑focused CTO role, suited to a senior technology leader who enjoys working with purpose‑driven organisations and complex stakeholder environments.
You will:
* Validate the current technology, architecture and operating model
* Provide executive accountability for technology risk, governance and architecture
* Strengthen platform reliability, data quality and reporting assurance
* Design an optimal future technology operating model and roadmap
* Build Executive and Board confidence in technology oversight
* Support informed decision‑making on internal vs outsourced capability
The engagement will commence with an initial 8–12 week current‑state validation phase, with potential for an ongoing fractional CTO role.
Engagement Options
We welcome interest from suitably qualified individuals (employee or contractor; approx. 0.2–0.4 FTE).
Indicative ongoing commitment (if extended): 2–6 days per month, subject to findings and agreement.
About You
You will bring:
* Senior CTO, Head of Engineering, Senior Chief Technology Architect or equivalent experience
* Strong expertise in Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power Platform and data/analytics platforms
* Experience overseeing systems in regulated or government‑funded environments
* Strong understanding of data governance, privacy and security
* The ability to operate effectively in small, lean, multi‑state organisations
* Clear communication at Executive and Board level
* Experience within the not-for-profit sector
