SmartFrame by Tilling is seeking an experienced Wood Machinist to join our South Australian operations in a full-time capacity.
This is not a general labouring position – we are seeking a high-level operator with demonstrated technical skills to operate and maintain a Hundegger Turbo-Drive II CNC machine, one of the most advanced automated timber processing systems in the industry.

As a Wood Machinist (Hundegger Operator), you will:
* Operate, calibrate, and maintain automated timber machinery (Hundegger)
* Read and interpret technical drawings and job specifications for accurate cutting
* Ensure accuracy of inventory and stock management
* Track, maintain and reduce waste / off-cuts
* Monitor quality, adjust machine parameters, and identify faults in real time
* Collaborate with despatch and yard teams to ensure timely fulfilment of custom-cut orders
* Conduct daily pre-start checks and perform minor maintenance on machinery
* Follow strict safety processes and contribute to a clean, efficient workspace
* Contribute to the overall operational safety and efficiency of the site
What We're Looking For:
This is a technical specialist role and requires:
* Minimum 3 years' experience operating timber machining or CNC equipment in a production environment
* Strong understanding of timber grades, machining tolerances, and engineered wood products
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced setting
* High attention to detail and commitment to safe operating procedures
* Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot minor issues during production
Preferred Qualifications
* Trade or vocational qualifications in wood machining, manufacturing, or relevant proven experience
* Forklift license (or willingness to obtain one)
* Previous experience using a Hundegger or similar CNC timber machines (highly regarded)
