Join Visy as a Process Engineer (Chemicals) to optimize chemical processes and support sustainable paper production in Melbourne.
Your Role
Here's what you will be doing:
* Uphold Visy safety standards, ensuring compliance and addressing hazards for safe mill operations
* Monitor and manage chemicals and chemical levels daily, including inventory of consumables and equipment
* Manage chemical budgets and KPIs, including raising purchase orders as needed
* Troubleshoot chemical dosing systems and coordinate maintenance resources
* Provide technical assistance and optimize dosing systems for performance and efficiency
* Conduct regular and random paper testing to meet quality requirements and update SDS with latest chemical data
* Collaborate closely with production, support chemical sourcing, and assist during maintenance and shutdowns, including on-call duties
* Manage relationships with chemical suppliers to understand chemicals and dosing systems
* Ensure compliance with safe chemical usage, storage, and handling per Australian and site standards
About You
What you'll need:
* Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or equivalent science qualification
* 0-3 years relevant experience; recent graduates with FMCG manufacturing, paper & pulp mill, heavy industrial, or oil and gas internship experience preferred
* Ability to optimize chemical usage and control costs
* Experience in testing and process monitoring of chemical systems in manufacturing
* High-level communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
* Collaborative, flexible, team-focused, with a continuous improvement mindset
* Highly organized with strong planning skills
