Overview
Hollywood Private Hospital is seeking a motivated and positive team player to join our Physiotherapy team as a Physiotherapy Assistant on a casual basis. The hospital offers a full range of Allied Health services including dietetics, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, social work and speech pathology.
As a Physiotherapy Assistant you will facilitate the effective and efficient operation of the Physiotherapy department through clinical and non-clinical duties, assisting Physiotherapists in treatment to achieve patient-centered outcomes and improved functional capacity.
Role
Your role will involve but is not limited to:
* Applying and maintaining a working knowledge of Physiotherapy policies and procedures relevant to the areas of work.
* Undertaking non-treatment activities as required, such as preparing and escorting patients for therapy, preparing equipment for treatment, assisting the physiotherapist in joint therapy sessions, setting up and dismantling group therapy areas/equipment, and data collection and entry.
* Under the instruction of a Physiotherapist, supervising the practice of established exercise programs including walking, muscle strengthening and balance exercises.
* Maintaining professional and safety standards when dealing with patients, ensuring care is consistent with quality care provision.
About You
To be successful in this role you will bring a patient-first attitude with a desire to assist the team in achieving the best possible outcomes for patients.
* Demonstrated ability to work under the supervision of a Physiotherapist to deliver individual and group exercise therapy sessions.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team to manage workload demands and priorities.
* Proven ability to communicate effectively within a healthcare team and with a wide range of patients/consumers.
* Demonstrated ability to work within professional and safety standards and identify and escalate risks.
Candidates who have completed or are working towards a Certificate III or IV in Allied Health Assistance and/or who are currently completing an undergraduate allied health university degree will be highly regarded.
