Medical Specialists (Healthcare and Medical) – Government - State (Government and Defence) – Full time
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Staff Specialist - General Medicine to work for the Department of Health (DoH) across the North West region.
The Department provides acute and sub-acute general medicine and a range of medical sub-specialty services including a large outpatient service. The department of Medicine has general medicine physicians with subspecialties/interests in Cardiology, Infectious Diseases, Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Respiratory, Nephrology, Endocrinology and Diabetes, Geriatric Medicine and Palliative Care. The North West Regional Hospital (NWRH) and the Mersey Community Hospital (MCH) are key sites in the region.
The DoH offers a comprehensive undergraduate and graduate clinical training program, with close ties to the University of Tasmania through the Rural Clinical School. You will contribute to leadership and help with the delivery of the Undergraduate general medical education program.
Details of appointment
Permanent full time, day worker (with on call) position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as you are able to join the team. Hours are negotiable with the successful applicant.

Salary and benefits
Salary: Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 - Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 216,300 to 310,389 per annum, pro rata + 12% superannuation + access to salary packaging. Access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range 300,216 - 310,389 is subject to criteria outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award. Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022.
Salary packaging options include benefits such as living expenses up to 9,010 and 2,650 in meals and entertainment per year. Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle or motor vehicle allowance of 28,786 per annum (pro rata). Allowance in lieu of private practice schemes 35%. Generous relocation assistance and accommodation. A range of leave entitlements including study leave and Professional Development Support. Fitness Passport access for you and your family (40+ facilities across Tasmania) from 13.95 per week per person or 25.95 for a family.
Eligibility: Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria as Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty and Current Working with Children Registration. Desirable: Current Driver's Licence.
