Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking an experienced Staff Specialist to join our team at Concord repatriation General Hospital and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
We are looking for a Staff Specialist Cancer Genetics. The primary purpose of the role of Staff Specialist in Cancer Genetics is to provide high quality diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Cancer Genetics, and to participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Cancer Genetics Department and Hospital as required.
This position is based at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, as part of a team providing Cancer Genetics services to Sydney Local Health District. A key component of this role is to provide support to Western NSW Cancer Genetics service, supporting outpatient clinics in Western NSW Local Health District (WNSWLHD) through a combination of Telehealth consultations and attending WNSWLHD for face-to-face clinic appointments (as clinically necessary for patient care).
The Staff Specialist will work to support the Mainstream model of care for cancer patients having treatment in WNSWLHD, adapting the model in use in SLHD in support of the clinical needs of WNSWLHD. This involves support of Genetic Counsellors employed by WNSWLHD in triaging referrals, assessment of families post-genetic counsellor intakes and supporting the education and professional development of cancer genetic counsellors.
The Staff Specialist will ensure a high standard of professional performance and encouragement of an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development.
Medical practitioner, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) with specialist qualifications in Medical Oncology and advanced training in Cancer Genetics, or specialist qualifications in Clinical Genetics as provided for in the NSW Staff Specialists (State) Award.
Position is currently available. In addition, applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within two months from date of application, may be considered.
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the NSW Staff Specialist (State) Award.
