Libraries ACT is a vibrant service that constantly re-invents itself to meet emerging community needs and expectations. Our vision is Literacy and Learning for Life and our branches deliver traditional book-based services as well as many learning programs and opportunities for the community to come together. Based across nine sites, the library is integral to Canberra's literacy, self-education and learning, social inclusion, digital inclusion, and citizenship.
The Independent Working Group Final Report 2025 (IWG Report) into Libraries ACT (LACT) made 37 recommendations for the ACT Government to implement to improve service reliability, enhance workforce engagement and wellbeing, and long-term financial and operational sustainability of LACT.
The embedment of a Human Resources Specialist was a recommendation of the IWG Report to facilitate cultural renewal within LACT. The Human Resources Specialist will work support the leadership team to implement inclusive Human Resource practices and champion staff wellbeing and engagement.
