We are currently seeking a dedicated Construction Materials Testing Field/Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic team based at the onsite annex laboratory within the Melrose Park Precinct Development project.
Role Overview
As a Construction Materials Testing Field/Laboratory Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality of construction materials used throughout the Melrose Park Precinct Development. You will work from our dedicated onsite annex laboratory while also carrying out field testing across the project. Your responsibilities will include preparing and testing samples, performing onsite assessments, and reporting results to support both our clients and project delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform field tests on construction materials (including compaction control using a nuclear density gauge).
- Conduct laboratory testing on soil, aggregate, and concrete samples in the onsite annex laboratory.
- Collect and document representative samples for analysis.
- Operate and maintain testing equipment in line with safety and quality standards.
- Accurately record results, prepare reports, and communicate findings to project managers.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with project teams to provide technical support and resolve materials-related issues.
Requirements
- Certificate IV or Diploma in Laboratory Operations (preferred).
- Previous experience in construction materials testing (field and/or laboratory).
- Solid knowledge of AS and TfNSW testing methods and equipment for soils and aggregates.
- Strong attention to detail with good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
