Operations Engineer - Remote Operations Centre
We have a fantastic opportunity for an Operations Engineer to join our Remote Operations Centre (ROC) based in South Melbourne. Reporting to the Remote Operations Manager, you’ll support our customer’s assets from a centralised Remote Monitoring Centre, ensuring effective management and optimal performance of power generation assets across Australia.
Our team manages a range of power generation assets, including gas pipelines, wind farms, and power stations.
What You’ll Do
- Monitor and operate Remote Operations Centre assets safely and efficiently.
- Support site teams through extreme weather notifications and lone worker management systems.
- Conduct preliminary diagnostics on plant issues and advise O&M; and Asset Management teams.
- Carry out preliminary condition and performance monitoring of assets.
- Perform preliminary predictive analytics and advise engineering teams.
- Immediately report defects, operational issues, and faults.
- Maintain and update ROC policies and standards.
What You’ll Have
- Relevant engineering qualification (certificates and diplomas considered).
- Condition monitoring qualification (VCAT1 or equivalent) preferred.
- Understanding of predictive analytics fundamentals.
- Knowledge of basic gas laws and thermodynamics.
- Solid understanding of renewable technologies.
- Strong understanding of heavy industrial plant & equipment; ability to read P&IDs; and PFDs.
- Strong understanding of electrical infrastructure; ability to read SLDs.
- Strong understanding of SCADA, DCS and remote access communication systems.
- Solid analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and SharePoint.
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
- Flexibility to work rostered shift work.
