POSITION DESCRIPTION
· interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, weld symbols and job specifications to determine welding, fabrication and installation requirements;
· selecting, preparing, measuring, marking, cutting, shaping and bending metal materials, sections, plates, components and pipes using hand tools, mechanical equipment and heating techniques as required;
· positioning, aligning and securing metal components for assembly, and joining them using appropriate welding techniques, bolting or riveting where required;
· performing pre-heat and post-weld treatments where required, and inspecting completed welds for bead size, penetration, alignment, defects and overall compliance using visual and, where applicable, non-destructive testing methods;
· grinding, finishing, smoothing and cleaning welded products to achieve the required finish and quality standard;
· maintaining and calibrating welding equipment to ensure safe operation and compliance with quality standards;
· ensuring all welding activities are carried out in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements and hygiene standards applicable to food-processing facilities;
· assisting with the installation, repair and modification of production line fixtures, structural supports and meat-processing machinery, and liaising with maintenance and production teams to minimise operational downtime; and
· maintaining accurate records of welding procedures, inspections and material usage for quality assurance and operational purposes.
HOURS OF WORK
38 hours per week - 7.00am – 3.00pm
You will be paid weekly in accordance with processing plant compensation policy and meat industry award rates.
Remuneration- $ 76,515 annually
