Our client is a Western Australian‐owned business operating for nearly 30 years in the production of packaged building materials. With a workforce of 40 staff and two factories, they produce and supply a wide range of dry‐mix products, repair mortars, tile adhesives, waterproofing solutions and DIY building materials.

About the opportunity

This is a hands‐on Mechanical Fitter role covering a broad range of fixed and mobile plant equipment across two manufacturing sites. You'll oversee the day‐to‐day mechanical performance of production and mobile equipment and report to the Operations Manager.

Working closely with a boilermaker and another fitter, you'll help shape a proactive maintenance culture. The role can potentially progress toward a supervisory position within 12–18 months assuming growth levels are maintained.

Responsibilities
* Conduct preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs on 4 main production units – encompassing high speed bagging machines, batching plants, silos with filter systems, augers, conveyorsbelts, motors, gearboxes, pneumatic systems, cylinders & air compressors.
* Maintain inventory and documentation for plant maintenance and parts
* Uphold safety standards and maintain compliance
* Light fabrication and welding (desired but not essential)
* Perform preventative and breakdown maintenance on manufacturing machinery and equipment
* Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the development and optimization of preventative maintenance plans Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and plant performance
* Diagnose and repair mechanical faults efficiently to minimize downtime
* Conduct fault finding on PLC‐controlled systems and automated plant and equipment
* Maintain and service production machines, pneumatic systems, conveyors, and batch plant machinery
* Monitor and maintain mechanical spare parts and inventory levels
* Complete maintenance records, reports, and documentation accurately
* Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company policies and procedures
* Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability and performance
* Maintain a clean and organized workshop and work environment
* Work autonomously with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines and operational targets
About you

We are seeking a hands‐on mechanical fitter with experience in fixed plant equipment and mobile site vehicles (light mechanics) such as trucks, forklifts and a bobcat. You will have experience in routine and reactive maintenance and take pride in working safely and efficiently. To be successful in this role, you will have:

* Trade qualified Mechanical Fitter or equivalent certification
* Experience in manufacturing and industrial maintenance environments
* Knowledge of preventative and breakdown maintenance procedures
* Experience with PLC systems, fault finding, and automated machinery
* Understanding of machinery, pneumatic systems, conveyors, and batch plants
* Experience managing mechanical spares and inventory
* Problem‐solving and troubleshooting skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Communication and organisational skills
* Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards

A police clearance may be requested.
