About the role
We are seeking an experienced CSPM Engineer to provide technical leadership and delivery accountability across enterprise cloud security posture management capabilities, with a strong focus on Google Cloud (including restricted / air‐gapped Google Distributed Cloud environments) and Palo Alto Networks security platforms.
This role is accountable for the architecture, design, implementation, testing, and operationalisation of CSPM controls aligned to stringent regulatory environments, including alignment to the Australian Essential Eight. You will work across security, cloud platform, infrastructure, DevSecOps, and governance teams to ensure secure, compliant, and operationally supportable cloud deployments.
What you'll be responsible for
* Own the end-to-end delivery of CSPM capabilities across Google Cloud and Google Distributed Cloud (including air‐gapped deployments), covering architecture, design, configuration, testing, and operational handover.
* Define CSPM patterns for operating in restricted or air‐gapped environments, including offline data flows, controlled ingestion, and secure update mechanisms.
* Design and implement CSPM controls using Palo Alto Prisma Cloud and native Google Cloud security services.
* Translate Essential Eight controls into enforceable CSPM policies, guardrails, and monitoring use cases.
* Implement posture management across identity, network segmentation, compute hardening, logging, and data protection aligned to Essential Eight maturity expectations.
* Define compliant log sourcing and monitoring integration patterns suitable for controlled or air-gapped SIEM environments.
* Develop workflows for vulnerability and misconfiguration detection, prioritisation, remediation assignment, and compliance reporting.
* Integrate CSPM with SIEM, SOAR, and ITSM platforms, ensuring compatibility with restricted network boundaries.
* Support threat‐informed posture management, identifying high‐risk configurations such as excessive privileges, exposed services, and control drift in cloud environments.
* Produce architecture artefacts, security baselines, onboarding patterns, runbooks, and compliance reporting aligned to audit requirements.
* Provide technical guidance to engineering and operations teams operating within regulated or air‐gapped environments.
* Manage risks including control gaps, incomplete coverage, misconfiguration exposure, and compliance deviations.
What we're looking for
* Approximately 10 years' experience in cloud security, security engineering, DevSecOps, or security architecture roles.
* Hands‐on experience delivering CSPM in Google Cloud environments, including restricted or air‐gapped Google Distributed Cloud deployments.
* Strong experience with Palo Alto Prisma Cloud or equivalent CSPM platforms.
* Demonstrated experience aligning cloud security controls with the Australian Essential Eight or similar regulatory frameworks.
* Strong understanding of identity, network isolation, logging, patching, and hardening controls aligned to Essential Eight maturity levels.
* Experience integrating CSPM with SIEM, SOAR, and ITSM platforms in controlled or segmented network environments.
* Ability to design secure, compliant architectures under constrained connectivity and strict governance requirements.
* Strong troubleshooting capability across cloud services, IAM, logs, alerts, and policy enforcement.
* Experience operating in highly regulated or defence‐grade environments desirable.
Security Clearance
* Current Australian Government security clearance (Baseline, NV1 or higher), or
* Eligibility and willingness to undergo security clearance.
