Drifters Pizza & Beer is a busy, well-loved coastal venue with a focus on high-quality pizza, house-made dough, and great service.
Our kitchen runs a Marana Forni hybrid gas/wood oven and all dough is made in-house with a ***** hr cold ferment.
We're now looking for a Sous Chef to join our small, supportive kitchen team.
You'll work closely with our experienced Head Chef and help lead the team in a positive, high-standards, learning-focused kitchen.
This role suits someone who enjoys responsibility, consistency, and being part of a collaborative crew.
Hours
We trade Wednesday to Sunday, with evening and weekend shifts required as part of the normal roster.
What You'll Be Doing
Support the Head Chef with day-to-day kitchen operations
Lead sections during service
Assist with training and mentoring junior staff
Uphold food safety, prep systems, and consistent quality
Contribute to specials and menu execution
Maintain smooth communication between BOH and FOH teams
What We're Looking For
But — you don't need to know everything.
You'll be joining a team who pride themselves on their pizza-making craft, and there's plenty of space to learn from experienced chefs.
Every oven has its own personality — we'll teach you how to work with ours.
Experience
Background as a Sous Chef, Senior CDP, or a strong CDP ready to step up
Pizza or fast-paced kitchen experience is ideal
Dough knowledge and hand-stretching experience is a bonus
