The Principal Advisor will work within the Central Recruitment Team to attract, recruit and retain Child Safety Officers.
The principal advisor plays a pivotal role in guiding and managing the Student Placement Program and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Staff and Student Career Program, both critical talent pipelines to the department. Both programs operate to attract new talent to the department and work to offer new opportunities and career progression for existing staff.
The Principal Advisor will also provide project management skills to implement strategic initiatives and objectives. In this role you will provide best practice advice, specialising in the recruitment and selection of frontline child protection professionals and other departmental staff. Within this scope you will deliver practical information and culturally appropriate recruitment and selection methods including talent attraction, candidate assessment, guidance to tools available as well as on-boarding, induction and retention of staff. You will also be required to contribute expert knowledge and skills to assist the team to implement strategic recruitment projects in a complex workforce. The provision of cultural advice and guidance to support the department in achieving the desired outcome of being the most culturally competent organisation.
As a Principal Advisor you will:
* Manage the ongoing delivery and expansion of the Student Placement Program and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Staff and Student Career Program - providing ongoing advice to all stakeholders, including, executives, regions, universities, candidates and students.
* Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of innovative and effective workplace policies, practices and procedures.
* Deliver contemporary culturally appropriate advice, support and consulting services to executive, hiring managers, and applicants relating to vacancy management and recruitment and selection for roles across the Department.
* Supervise the Senior Advisors and provide training, assistance, support and mentoring to the team.
* Provide advice on strategic and operational planning for advertising and recruitment by conducting business reviews with regions to assess risk; review strategies; and identify potential efficiencies and improvement opportunities.
* Develop strategic relationships and engage with key internal and external stakeholders to develop innovative recruitment strategies. Provide clear communication and ongoing reinforcement of identified objectives, timeframes, methods and standards to adhere to.
* Represent the department across a range of arenas including at career and job fairs, and recruitment/industry events to source talent, foster strategic partnerships and build our employer brand.
