The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking an Senior Adviser, Media to provide a critical role within Emergency Management Communications.
About the Business Unit
EM Communications delivers communication services on behalf of the department's emergency management group to inform and educate the community about emergency management policies, programs and legislation across the emergency management sector to keep the community safe. The EM Communications function is responsible for the coordination of preparedness communications, response, relief and recovery.
About the Role
The Senior Adviser, Media, provides high level media support and advice to key stakeholders to the department's business units, senior executives and ministerial offices.
Some of your duties will include:
* Provide high-level media support and advice to key stakeholders including senior executives on short-term and long-term media strategies.
* Proactively promote initiatives and policies through the media and respond to media enquiries.
* Develop and implement effective communication strategies to inform external key stakeholders of issues and policies and support department priorities.
* Contribute editorial expertise and strategic thinking in the development of communications materials.
* Be team orientated and self-motivated, with a strong work ethic and a 'can do' approach in the workplace.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* Demonstrated experience in development and delivery of a range of communication activities and functions
* Demonstrated knowledge of State Government and department communication policies and process
Qualifications/requirements
* A tertiary qualification in journalism, public relations or other communication-related discipline is desirable.
