Reporting to the Head of Rail Operations,the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the required capabilities in the following areas:
* Perform assigned duties in accordance with SCT policies and work instructions; and applicable legislation and/or as directed by the Head of Rail Operations or nominated representative/s.
* Assisting in the monitoring and coordinating all train movements.
* Assist in determining the most cost-effective train combinations for the freight volumes on a weekly basis
* Monitoring fuel usage for the SCT & CSR locomotives.
* Allocate rolling stock to the appropriate location to ensure correct balance at each location.
* Assist in maintenance wagons are segregated and detached at the correct location.
* Monitor and assist with the database on train performance KPI's to be provided to the Head of Rail operations on a monthly basis.
* Ensure an understanding of all legislation relating to rail, including but not limited to SCTRail Safety Management Systems and proactively participate in implementation of all safe working systems.
* Conduct themselves in a manner that ensures SCT is recognized as a safe, reliable and quality supplier of rail related services.
* Liaison with SCT Customers and partners to ensure high service levels.
* Ensuring rail incidents are reported and investigated appropriately within the SCT Donesafe Incident Management System
* Assist with managing the reporting of notifiable incidents to the relevant authorities
* Maintaining compliance with SCT Rail and Work, Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.
* Ensuring notifiable incidents are reported to the Office of National Rail Safety Regulator (ONRSR) or other Authority to meet applicable legislation requirements.
* Advising the National Manager: Accreditation, Compliance, Safety & Rail of reportable incidents

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
* Strong commitment and experience with Rail Safety and Compliance
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Sound knowledge of the operational rail network
* Extensive experience of rail operations and terminology
* The ability to work as a team member
* A formal qualification in Transport & Logistics would be advantageous
* Experience in fatigue management would be advantageous
