This means being endlessly curious, challenging, agile, adaptive, and overall, embracing a commitment to continuously improve.As the Senior Accountant you will be responsible for co-ordinating and preparing the financial & regulatory reports of the Suncorp Group and its subsidiaries to ensure compliance to all reporting requirements.What you'll doSupport the Financial Reporting & Delivery team in statutory and regulatory reporting requirements of the Group and its subsidiaries, and champion best practicesDeliver excellence in reporting to executive managers/stakeholders, and ensure that communications enable informed decisions at first instanceOwn reporting of financial statements including movement commentary, liaising with business segments and collaborate with the Finance Advisory team to report on significant accounting mattersDrive technical curiosity within the team and develop the teams issue identification capability and proactive communication of issuesSupport engagement of external advisors in relation to financial and regulatory reporting advice within agreed budget guidelinesSupport relationship with external auditor and lead engagement and the provision of information to auditorsWhat you'll bringDegree in Accounting, Commerce (or similar) (mandatory)CA or CPA qualified - Mandatory5 years of financial reporting experience in a medium to large financial services institution or Big4 experience in audit & assurance servicesKnowledge and practical experience of IFRS accounting standards and financial statement disclosures, demonstrated either in a commercial environment or in a professional services firmKnowledge and awareness of ASIC regulatory guidance, class orders / legislative instruments and requirements affecting financial reportingExperience in establishing and managing executive-manager level relationshipsWorking knowledge of financial systems (e.g., General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Treasury, and Asset Management)Preferable understanding of the broader financial services market, trends, external markets, and competitive landscapesPreferable regulatory reporting experience in relation to APRA prudential standards and prudential practice guidesAbout Suncorp GroupWe're proud to be a part of the Suncorp Group family alongside some of Australia's most trusted and diverse names in insurance.
