Offer description

Job details:

Glic Recruitment is partnering with a consulting firm based in Canberra to appoint a senior leader to establish and grow a new Commercial and Procurement Capability within the firm. This is a strategic hire with long-term significance for the business.

The ideal candidate offers far more than technical procurement expertise. They are recognised for delivering tangible value, building enduring client relationships, and leading capability uplift. This role will see you shape and grow the commercial and procurement offering, unlock new opportunities, and establish a high-performing consulting team around you.

About the team:

The company is values-driven, emphasising integrity, transparency, and long-term client impact. The professional services are underpinned by a commitment to helping clients achieve their individual goals and objectives. One of their primary objectives is to provide transferable capability uplift across all clients and projects by delivering competent, trusted, and experienced consultants.

The firm offers independent professional and strategic advisory services across both the public and private sectors with established work and panel access across various capabilities, including strategy, planning and operational improvement, financial strategy and management, ICT and cybersecurity strategy.

Who We’re Looking For:

The successful candidate will be entrepreneurial, commercially minded, and growth-focused, with the strategic and structured thinking required to shape a new capability. They will be a persuasive communicator and trusted advisor, able to build strong relationships and influence senior stakeholders, while being successful in a dynamic, evolving boutique consultancy environment.

The remuneration package will be determined by the successful candidate’s experience and aligned with the position's seniority.

Why This Opportunity Is Unique:

This is a rare, once-in-a-career opportunity for a senior consulting professional to design, build, and lead a brand-new commercial and procurement capability within a respected Canberra-based consultancy. You will have autonomy to shape the team's strategy, service offerings, and culture, while also driving business growth by winning new client engagements. Unlike typical senior roles, this position blends hands-on advisory, strategic leadership, and business development, giving you direct impact on the business’s trajectory.

You will be supported by an experienced senior leadership group committed to investing in and strengthening the capability. The broader consultancy will actively cross-refer work across service lines, providing a strong platform of existing client relationships and opportunities to accelerate growth. You will have the opportunity to recruit, mentor, and lead your own team, establish high-performance standards, and become a trusted advisor to senior government stakeholders. This environment allows you to act with freedom, innovate quickly, and position yourself as a recognised leader in commercial and procurement services.
