The Mount Monger Operation (MMO) is an expansive tenement package located 50km southeast of Kalgoorlie.
Spanning multiple gold mineralisation styles, this dynamic operation currently includes the Daisy Milano Underground Mine, the Santa and Flora Dora Open pit mines and the Randalls Gold Processing Facility.
Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, the Project Mine Geologist will be responsible for the underground grade control function, ensuring ore development is mined to optimise stope extraction, and managing core logging and sampling of Mine Exploration and Grade Control drill programs.
The role will also provide assistance in planning and implementing drill programs, reconciliations, and deposit modelling.
This position will be offered on an 8:6 FIFO roster from Perth.
Key responsibilities of this role will include: Design, track and manage drill programs to achieve the budget.
Assist with managing the drill contractor and cost control.
Supervision and coordination of core yard personnel and work program priorities.
Work with the underground team to improve and optimise geological standards, practices and procedures.
Assist in the training and technical development of new and existing geological personnel.
Complete daily, weekly and monthly reports.
Monitor stockpile control, haulage and grade tracking to optimise production and maintain quality mill feed.
Assist in compilation of EOM geology claimed grade and back allocation of declared ore mined to sub-units.
Monitor laboratory performance and address issues in a timely manner.
Complete monthly and yearly QAQC reports.
Digital input and validation of all information in the geological database.
Work with the Production Engineers to establish development viability and refinement of stope outlines to minimise dilution and maximise recovery of economic resources.
Identify and complete geological project work that increases the understanding of the ore body dynamics.
Undertake comprehensive geological, structural and geotechnical assessment of diamond drill core and underground workings to Department standards.
Check geological mapping prepared by Mine and Graduate Geologists and ensure all mapping is produced in a consistent format and to a high quality.
Monitor sampling procedures, standards and frequency.
Utilise all available data to produce and maintain high-quality geological wireframes and models.
Provide high-level contribution to geological interpretation and grade control models, resource models and reports to ensure accuracy of interpretation and the ability to deliver on expected outcomes/strategic objectives and time frames.
Reduce geological risk to the mine plan through effective review of models and mine plan, and where needed, ensure appropriate risk mitigating actions are implemented.
Routine cost control and reporting.
Assist in the training, development and coaching of team members.
About You Tertiary qualifications in Geology are essential Previous experience working in an underground mining setting, with a particular emphasis on narrow-vein gold deposits.
Solid understanding of underground grade control processes, including diamond drilling, is essential.
Working knowledge and understanding of the WA Mining Act and Regulations, together with the WHS Act.
Proficient computer skills in MS Office and experience with Datamine, Datashed, Supervisor and Leapfrog would be advantageous.
Hold a valid WA C Class Driver's License.
Practical understanding of gold mineralisation and deposit characteristics, along with sampling techniques specific to gold.
