NPAQ’s Council is made up of committed volunteers with a broad range of skills that help our Association grow and flourish. Ahead of the National Parks Association of Queensland's AGM on 25 October, NPAQ is calling for expressions of interest for our Council.
We currently have several volunteer roles available:

Company Description
The National Parks Association of Queensland Inc. (NPAQ) is a non-governmental, membership-based not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the preservation, expansion, and good management of national parks and protected areas in Queensland.
For 95 years, NPAQ has significantly contributed to the creation of many of Queensland's iconic parks, including Lamington National Park and Girraween National Park. The Association unites individuals who appreciate the importance of protected areas in conserving our natural environment. NPAQ’s core functions include advocacy, outdoor recreation, conservation activities, education and research, along with community conservation and Citizen Science projects. We also run the Parks Connect program for Junior Rangers, Cadet Rangers, Volunteer Rangers, and Campground Hosts in collaboration with the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, and host monthly Park of the Month activities. Role Description
This is a volunteer role for NPAQ Council Positions (Vice President, Secretary, and Councillors), located in Queensland, with remote and flexible working arrangements. Responsibilities are for a 2-year term and include participating in Council meetings, helping shape the strategic direction of the organisation (particularly with regard to fundraising, promotional and corporate sponsorship opportunities), advocating for the preservation and expansion of national parks, occasionally attending and promoting our outdoor recreation activities, promoting conservation efforts, and supporting and promoting our community outreach and education programs.
Useful Qualifications
- Experience in advocacy, public speaking, and community engagement.
- We are especially seeking those who have fundraising or corporate sponsorship experience.
- A background in conservation, environmental science, or related fields.
- Leadership and organisational skills.
- A passion for nature, outdoor recreation, and environmental conservation.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Familiarity with Queensland’s national parks and protected areas is a plus.
- Availability to attend monthly online Council meetings and occasional face-to-face meet-ups or event assistance in the Greater Brisbane Area.
