We are looking for experienced, enthusiastic, trade qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanics for Sydney, NSW reporting to the Workshop Supervisors and the Regional Engineering Manager, and being part of the NSW Engineering team, the Mechanic ensures routine, scheduled, adhoc and breakdown maintenance and repair work are carried out in a safe and efficient manner.
THE ROLE
Ensure that assigned vehicles are maintained to a safe and presentable standard that consistently meets the regulations of the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator, Roads & Maritime Services and company's servicing schedules.
Ensure that any appointed sub-contractors operate in accordance with the agreed vehicle maintenance standards and working in a safe manner.
Diligently attend and participate in all training programmes conducted or organised by the Company, or by suppliers organising such training programmes at the request of the Company.
Fully co-operate with any reasonable instructions issued by authorised representatives of Roads & Maritime Services.
Comply with all of the Company's policies, procedures and safety management systems.
Undertake, attend and actively participate in training activities that may be organised by the Company as required.
Attend to on-road breakdowns and accidents and safely recover vehicles in accordance with Company's authorised procedures.
Responsible for filling in job cards and entering in company's manual/electronic records/systems.
Actively identify and assist in eliminating any unsafe or unhealthy conditions, practices or behavior in the workplace.
Adhering to allocated job times and reporting labour hours on individual jobs.
Carry out any appropriate tasks as assigned by the Group Engineering Manager, Regional Engineering Manager, workshop supervisor or appropriate Company representative.
Comply with the Work Health and Safety Act, Regulations and Codes of Practice of the state(s).
Comply with company's Work Health and Safety and Risk Management Policies and Procedures.
Decision-making
Identifies hazards and works with workshop supervisor to eliminate hazards and mitigate safety risks
Diagnoses faults in fleet and works with workshop supervisor to repair and maintain fleet
Assessing damage to vehicles involved in accident and advising workshop supervisor as to labour/materials required for rectification.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
Must be Trade Qualified and extensive knowledge of bus fleet
Must be physically fit
Knowledgeable of WHS requirements within a heavy vehicle repair workshop
Minimum MR drivers licence
Can work independently or part of a team
Effective verbal communication, written communication and problem-solving skills
Answer two-way radio calls and depot phone calls when required
Basic PC competency in Microsoft Office and ERP
Able use of hand tools and workshop equipment
Ability to identify safety issue
Annual Salary of $90,000 to $100,000 excluding superannuation
