Job Title: Sales Estimator
The Sales Estimator role is a critical position that demands strong analytical skills and attention to detail. As a key team member, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive financial planning for all projects from inception to completion.
* Key Responsibilities:
* Analyze project requirements with meticulous care, estimate costs accurately, and develop detailed budgets to guide the construction process.
* Coordinate, manage, and prepare new proposals by ensuring timely resource allocation and actioning of activities from opportunity identification through to project award.
* Conduct thorough analyses of project specifications, drawings, and relevant documents to estimate costs for materials, labor, equipment, and other expenses effectively.
* Utilize industry knowledge and historical data to forecast potential cost variations and mitigate associated risks.
* Evaluate alternative materials and construction methods to optimize cost-effectiveness without compromising quality standards.
* Request multiple quotations from suppliers and trades to ensure compliance with project briefs.
* Work closely with senior management to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services.
* Participate in proposal development and provide input as required to achieve optimal project offers.
* Review final marketing plans to ensure alignment with budgetary considerations.
* Maintain key relationships throughout the development process and facilitate effective communication with stakeholders.
* Identify potential cost impacts and collaborate with senior management to determine whether reworking of original technical or design inputs is necessary.
* Recognize and address potential risks and uncertainties that may impact project costs and develop strategies to mitigate their effects.
* Communicate proactively with project stakeholders to address concerns and ensure alignment on risk management strategies.
* Contribute to contract review and preparation processes as required.
* Ensure best practices are adopted and maintained within the organization.
* Promote a culture of quality assurance through regular review and implementation of QA mechanisms.
* Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in cost planning and construction management.
* Monitor project budgets regularly to update price files and identify areas for consideration in future tenders.
* Engage in pre-tender buildability reviews and post-project evaluations to assess cost performance, identify lessons learned, and implement process improvements.
* Develop project cost estimates, establish budgets, and document project elements to facilitate site commencement.
* Apply sound financial principles across the organization's projects.
* Collaborate in the preparation of new project cost plans with key stakeholders.
* Ensure understanding and application of budgeting, forecasting, and key business metrics processes within agreed timeframes and standards.
* Maintain adherence to the delegation policy.
* Requirements/Qualifications:
* This role demands attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
* A minimum of 5 years' experience in managing complex, medium-density projects and developments.
* Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Commercial acumen and ability to understand and interpret technical aspects of design and construction.
