Senior Marketing Manager

Step4 | Central Coast NSW

Why this role exists

Step4 specialises in creating bespoke learning environments for early education centres across Australia. With a long history in furniture design and customisation, we bring together functional, nurturing, and creative spaces through our Explore – Design – Deliver approach. This proven process has helped deliver over a thousand centres, supporting educators to create environments that are both practical and aligned to how children learn.

Step4 is trusted by early learning centres because it makes complex decisions easier.

Founded in 2008 by Dan Kennard and his daughter Jessica, Step4 has grown from a family-run business on the Central Coast into a trusted partner across Australia. That foundation still shapes how we work — we're practical, collaborative, and focused on outcomes for educators and children.

We combine project expertise with supplying everyday products educators rely on. As Step4 grows, that trust needs to scale — without becoming inconsistent or dependent on individual effort.

We’re entering an exciting period of growth, expanding beyond fitouts and refurbishments to become a trusted, everyday supplier to early learning centres. This shift creates a real opportunity for marketing to play a more central role in driving repeat purchasing behaviour and strengthening long-term relationships.

This role turns marketing strategy into consistent, high-quality execution that supports growth, reduces friction, and strengthens how Step4 shows up day to day.

Working closely with the Fractional CMO, the Senior Marketing Manager ensures marketing is not just planned — but delivered.

This is a hands-on leadership role focused on making marketing work — consistently and commercially.

Role overview

You will lead the day-to-day delivery of marketing across campaigns, content, digital channels, event aka all brand touchpoints.

Working with the Fractional CMO, this role translates strategy into clear, consistent execution.

Marketing supports growth by:

* Driving qualified leads and pipeline

* Supporting Sales and Customer Experience

* Delivering consistent brand execution

* Supporting growth as an everyday supplier

You will lead a small team (onshore and offshore) and be accountable for output and delivery.

What you’ll be responsible for

Delivering marketing that drives growth
Plan and deliver campaigns aligned to business priorities, supporting lead generation, pipeline, and revenue.

Leading product marketing and messaging
Work closely with Product to ensure our products are clearly and consistently represented across all marketing.

Develop messaging that makes it easy for customers to understand what we offer, what to buy, and why—across both projects and everyday products.

Leading execution across a mix of channels
Oversee delivery across content, social, digital, email, website, and events, ensuring everything works together as part of a clear, joined-up plan — not in isolation.

Lead the planning and coordination of events and key initiatives, ensuring they are well organised, aligned to objectives, and supported by strong marketing — without needing to manage or execute every detail personally.

Managing and enabling the marketing team
Lead a small team (onshore and offshore), setting priorities, managing workflows, and ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.

Create a way of working that is structured, reliable, and easy for others to engage with.

Bringing the brand to life
Work with the Creative and Content leads to ensure the brand shows up clearly and consistently across everything we do, in a way that reflects our values and how we partner with educators.

Help make it easier for educators to understand what we offer, what to buy, and why.

Supporting sales and customer experience
Work with Sales and Customer Experience to ensure marketing reflects real customer needs. Create campaigns and materials that support how customers actually make decisions and buy.

Supporting performance and reporting
Track performance across campaigns and channels and provide clear reporting and insights to the CMO, ensuring performance is easy to understand and action.

Improving how marketing operates
Improve systems, processes, and use of platforms (including HubSpot & WordPress) to build a more efficient and scalable function.

What success looks like after 12 months

After 12 months, you will have helped shift marketing at Step4 from being activity-driven to being a consistent, commercially valuable part of how the business operates. You’ll have brought greater structure, clarity, and momentum to the team, making it easier to plan, deliver, and improve over time.

In practice, this means:

* Campaigns run with a clear rhythm and are delivered without last-minute pressure

* Marketing supports pipeline with a steady flow of leads

* Step4 has strengthened its position as an everyday supplier

* The brand is clear and consistent across all touchpoints

* Marketing is easy for the business to work with

* Sales and Customer Experience feel supported

* The team works in a structured, reliable way

How success will be measured

Success is measured by delivering consistent, high-quality marketing that supports the business.

This shows up in:

* Campaigns are planned and delivered on time, aligned to business priorities, and run in a way that feels organised and predictable rather than reactive

* Marketing activity is performing well, with clear evidence of optimisation and improvement over time — not just running, but getting better

* Sales, Customer Experience, and other teams feel supported by marketing and find it easy to work with, with strong collaboration and clear communication

* Multiple priorities are managed confidently, with steady progress across projects and minimal need for escalation or rework

* The quality of work is consistently high, with strong attention to detail and clear alignment to the Step4 brand

* There is a clear focus on improving how things are done, with processes, workflows, and outputs becoming more efficient and effective over time

* The marketing team works well together, with a collaborative approach and a shared understanding of what good looks like

What you’ll bring

You’re someone who enjoys jumping straight in and takes pride in delivering work that is both high quality and commercially relevant.

You’re practical, organised, and solutions-focused, with a calm approach that keeps things moving.

You build strong relationships across the business and work closely with Sales and other teams.

You’re just as comfortable planning as you are delivering, and you can balance multiple priorities without losing momentum. You take ownership of outcomes, not just tasks, and bring a proactive approach to how you work.

You also have a natural focus on improvement — always looking for ways to make things work better, whether that’s refining a campaign, improving a process, or simplifying how something is done.

Capabilities and experience
* Experience delivering marketing across multiple channels

* Strong understanding of product positioning and messaging

* Experience planning and delivering campaigns end-to-end

* Ability to manage multiple workstreams and priorities

* Experience working with internal teams and stakeholders

Experience in a product-led or product-driven business will be highly regarded.

Working at Step4

At Step4, we’re more than a supplier — we’re a team that genuinely cares about the role we play in early childhood education.

We’re a close-knit, supportive team that values collaboration, practical thinking, and doing good work together. It’s a place where ideas are shared, people are heard, and everyone is encouraged to contribute.

We take our work seriously, but not ourselves—creating a culture that values connection, respect, and a bit of fun along the way.
