Novacoast Building is a Lake Macquarie-based construction company specialising in residential homes, renovations, and additions. With a strong focus on quality craftsmanship and attention to detail, we deliver exceptional results across all our projects.
We take on 2-5 large residential projects at a time, ensuring a steady and well-managed workflow. We are now looking for a skilled and motivated Leading Hand Carpenter to join our team. This role is ideal for someone looking to advance their career with a pathway towards becoming a licensed builder.
The Role
As a subcontract Carpenter, you will work within a small, close-knit team alongside carpenters and subcontractors as required. You will play a key role in ensuring that all projects are completed to the highest standard.
You will report directly to the Site Manager and help oversee daily site operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Site Manager to complete daily tasks
- Read and interpret plans, ensuring all work meets specifications
- Perform structural and finishing carpentry work, including:
- Frames & Trusses
- Eaves & Cladding
- Fix-out & Fit-off
- Ensure a high standard of quality and site safety
- Problem-solve and troubleshoot carpentry issues independently
Skills & Experience
- Must have ABN - Subcontractor position
- Minimum 5 years of experience in residential construction
- Strong background in frames, trusses, eaves, cladding, and fix-out
- Proven ability to lead and work within a team workplace
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal direction
- Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and leadership skills; able to delegate and provide clear instructions
Requirements
- Certificate III in Carpentry - Must have a New South Wales contractor license
- OHS White Card
- Valid Drivers License and own vehicle
- Own tools
- Willing to travel between Newcastle and the Central Coast
- Must have personal injury insurance
- Must have public liability insurance
