The Role
The key focus of this Board-level position is to provide strategic direction to ensure clinical governance systems are future-focused and reform-ready; strengthen Board oversight of clinical risk, safety, and quality outcomes; offer forward-thinking guidance on care model redesign, integrated care pathways, and workforce capability; and position the Board to lead confidently through aged care reform, including the new Aged Care Act and in-home care changes. This is a governance, non-operational position.
You
A seasoned clinical leader with substantial experience in senior executive and governance roles across aged care, community health, or disability services, you are recognised for your capacity to lead in complex, regulated environments and represent the clinical voice at the highest level of decision-making. A background in gerontology, palliative care, or ageing-focused health leadership will be highly regarded. Your experience includes:
* Registered Health Practitioner (e.g. Registered Nurse, Allied Health Professional, Psychologist, General Practitioner, or Gerontologist) with current AHPRA registration (where applicable).
* Postgraduate qualification in Health Management, Governance, Risk, Gerontology, or Public Health.
* Completion of AICD Company Directors Course (or willingness to undertake).
* 10–15+ years in senior clinical, executive, or Board-level roles.
* Demonstrated ability to influence complex organisations and high-stakes decision-making.
* Experience designing or embedding enterprise-wide clinical governance systems.
* Involvement in sector-wide reform, co-design initiatives, or Royal Commission responses.
* Oversight of clinical risk portfolios, performance systems, and consumer feedback channels.
This is an exciting and dynamic opportunity to achieve something great for the aged community! It will involve approximately six Board meetings a year for which you will receive an attractive remuneration including salary packaging options as part of a not-for-profit organisation.
