Overview

The Statewide Hospital Pharmacy Northwest team provides high level pharmacy services to the Northwest Regional Hospital in Burnie and the Mersey Community Hospital in Latrobe. Our pharmacists collaborate with medical, nursing, and allied health teams to deliver patient-centred, medicine-related care with a strong emphasis on patient safety and professional development.

We are an accredited Advanced Pharmacy Australia (AdPha) Resident Training Program Site. The Resident Training Program is a 2-year structured workplace training program to support pharmacists in developing from general practice toward Australian and New Zealand College of Advanced Pharmacy (ANZCAP) Pharmacist Resident recognition, with on-the-job training for clinical pharmacy, operational and self-development skills. The program suits both early career pharmacists and those newer to hospital pharmacy practice.

The Role:

There are roles available for Pharmacists within our Resident Training Program or for general employment, to provide a comprehensive, efficient, and accountable pharmacy service for hospital inpatients and outpatients.

Responsibilities

- Provide a comprehensive set of Clinical Pharmacy Services including Best Possible Medication History taking, development of Medication Management and Action Plans with the multi-disciplinary team, and patient education across every stage of inpatient care. On-the-job training is available for those new to these roles.
- Dispense medications for inpatient, outpatient, and discharge supply in accordance with legal requirements; work within the parameters of public hospital medication access schemes including the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, the Special Access Scheme, Section 100, Clinical Trials, and Early Access Schemes.
- Routinely offer verbal and written medicines information and other supporting health advice to patients.
- Provide information on medications to hospital staff and contribute to the education of staff on medication-related issues.

Details and Benefits

Details of appointment: Multiple permanent, full-time/part-time, shift worker positions available, up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. Hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant. The selection process may be used for subsequent vacancies for up to 12 months from publication.

Salary: Allied Health Professional Level 1-2, $73,834 to $111,364 per annum plus employer 12% superannuation. Salary range according to Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No.2 of 2022.

Salary Packaging: Access to salary packaging including living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 in meal entertainment per FBT year, plus other eligible benefits.

Allowances: Professional Development Allowance up to $1,000 per annum; a market allowance of $10,000 per annum (pro rata) for this role.

Other Benefits: Travel and relocation assistance up to $15,000 for eligible overseas appointees and up to $10,000 for interstate appointees; professional development and accelerated pathways including access to our Pharmacy Residency Program; leave entitlements including study leave and Professional Development Support; Fitness Passport for you and your family (40+ facilities across Tasmania) with applicable costs.

Eligibility

Essential criteria:

- Registered with the Pharmacy Board of Australia
- For pre-registration (intern) pharmacists: Eligible for provisional registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia
- Approved qualification/program by the Pharmacy Board of Australia or an overseas qualification eligible for skills assessment through the Australian Pharmacy Council

Other role features:

- Pharmacists may work at any site within Pharmacy Services or other nominated health providers in the region
- May be required to participate in weekend and on-call services
