If you are seeking an opportunity to lead a team in a community legal centre, look no further!

We are seeking an experienced lawyer with experience in family law and domestic and family violence who has experience leading teams to successful outcomes.

Women’s Legal Service Queensland (WLSQ) is a for purpose community legal centre providing free legal and other social justice services to women. We specialise in the areas of family law, domestic and family violence, child protection and sexual assault through our counselling notes protect program.

About the Role:

As the Supervising Solicitor of the Advice Team, you will

* Provide leadership and management to the Client Advice Team
* Provide holistic, trauma-informed and culturally safe legal advice to women across Queensland
* Provide minor task assistance and referrals to women seeking legal advice
* Conduct risk assessments and contribute to safety planning for women seeking legal advice
* Develop and deliver community legal education and contribute to WLSQ's law reform activities
To succeed in this role, you will:
* have a minimum of 5 years’ post admission experience and legal practice experience in family law and domestic and family violence including demonstrated experiencing drafting court documents and managing files.
* Sound knowledge and understanding of legal and social issues affecting women, particularly the gendered nature of domestic violence.
* Experience in child safety matters and understanding of child support practices (desirable).
* Builds relationships with external stakeholders to ensure collaborative partnerships align with organisational goals.
* Continually evaluates and improves organisational workflows and processes to maximise productivity and reduce inefficiencies.
* Provides expert, specialist guidance to multiple areas of the organisation, enhancing the integration of evidence-based practices across service delivery.
* Coaches and supports employees to solve complex problems and navigate challenging situations.
* Leads teams to achieve strategic goals, improves overall organisational performance, manages and drives successful projects.
* Anticipates future challenges and opportunities, making decisions that position the organisation to achieve the goals desired.
* Commitment to and ability to work within a feminist framework and to work independently and as a member of a team.
This role requires the incumbent to hold and maintain the following:
* Open Queensland Driver’s Licence
* Unrestricted Practicing Certificate
* Accreditation as a domestic violence duty lawyer is not mandatory, but is highly desirable
