About us

SafeWork NSW is the state's workplace health and safety regulator. Our mission is to reduce work-related fatalities, injuries and illnesses by ensuring workplaces comply with health and safety laws. We achieve this through a mix of responsive and proactive programs targeting high-risk areas across all industries, aligned with our strategic plan and regulatory priorities.

SafeWork NSW has just transformed to become a modern, strong, and independent Work Health and Safety Regulator.

About the role:

The Operational Intelligence Team is comprised of both data scientists and intelligence practitioners. We produce complex and specialised intelligence products that identify areas of high and emerging risk, prevent and reduce harm and inform long term strategic planning. Stakeholder management and the proactive building of both internal and external relationships is a critical component of this role. This role may become an authorised role in the future meaning the team member may have responsibility for the execution of limited powers under our legislation. We are therefore encouraging anyone with an investigations (or similar) background to consider applying.

Key Responsibilities:

* Develop and support complex intelligence and analytics projects using a combination and technology, relationships and analytical tools/techniques.
* Plan and deliver timely, accurate and outcomes-focused intelligence products and analysis to inform tactical and operational decision making.
* Develop and maintain a network of contacts across SafeWork and become a critical contact point for the receipt and dissemination of information and intelligence.
* Develop and maintain working partnerships with relevant state, federal and international regulatory/law enforcement, and intelligence bodies.
* Provide expert advice regarding current and emerging State and National issues that impact NSW.
