Overview

Hedland Senior High School (SHS), located in the Pilbara, is an Independent Public School catering for students from Year 7 to Year 12. We are seeking 2 x permanent full-time Special Needs Education Assistants in the Success Program to commence as soon as possible. Our school emphasises a system of positive behaviour supports focusing on care, courtesy, respect and responsibility, and our staff strive to maintain a school culture that encourages high standards of behaviour and performance. We aim to be inclusive, explicit and supportive of all students and staff to achieve success.

Responsibilities

* Work with students to assist teachers in delivering planned education programs focused on literacy, numeracy, social-emotional learning and work readiness skills.
* Support provision of a supportive and inclusive learning environment and contribute to evaluation of educational outcomes.
* Perform tasks requiring judgement to achieve clearly defined outcomes determined by the teacher and Head of Learning Area.
* Collaborate with the classroom teacher, Head of Learning Area and other Success Program staff to deliver an inspiring and quality educational experience.

Qualifications and Requirements

* Caring, proactive and responsive approach with strong written and oral communication skills.
* Ability to implement individual or small group-based programs in collaboration with teachers.
* Experience in delivering or contributing to planned education programs and supporting whole-school approaches.
* Knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents; ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
* Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, including evaluating educational programs and supporting therapy programs where implemented.
