- From $35.00 to $40.00 per hour plus 10.5% superannuation (dependent on level of experience)
**The Opportunity**
Join a team of professionals dedicated to managing the sport, aquatic and fitness facilities at UniSC with a specific focus of this role being the supervision and safety of patrons in the pool areas. Responsible for identifying and responding to potential risks and taking appropriate action to reduce those risks, you will ensure that the activities conducted in the University's aquatic facilities are of the highest quality, providing a safe and enjoyable aquatic experience.
**You will**
- perform all lifeguard duties, maintain vigilant surveillance of the pool area and supervise swimming activities at the aquatics facility ensuring that policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed;
- warn swimmers of improper activities or danger and communicates pool regulations and water safety policies;
- administer first aid in the event of injury, rescues swimmers in distress or danger of drowning, and administers CPR and/or artificial respiration, if necessary;
- evaluate conditions for safety and initiate aquatics emergency action plan as required;
- inspect pool facilities, equipment, and water to ensure that they are safe and usable;
- supervise and assist in cleaning the pool and related facilities and equipment, assist with chlorine residual water tests and with records and charts of water tests and records of accidents, and add chemicals to pool water as directed; and
- instruct or assists classes in fundamentals of swimming as needed.
**You will possess**:
- completion of a certification in Pool Lifeguard or equivalent (must include CPR/AED, First Aid);
- ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness; and
- demonstrated lifeguard skills and experience in accordance.
**Please note**, UniSC's preference is for lifeguards to be 18 years of age or older; minimum age of 16.
