Offer description

Overview

Invisible Partners is proud to be representing VMIA.

VMIA is the Victorian Government's insurer and risk adviser, covering hospitals, schools, emergency services, cultural institutions, and infrastructure. Its purpose is clear and compelling: building a confident, resilient Victoria through world-leading harm prevention and recovery.

Working here means more than handling claims — it means influencing outcomes that strengthen the public sector, improve safety, and ensure taxpayer dollars are used thoughtfully. It's meaningful work with a real impact on the community.

The Opportunity

Sensitive Liability claims are among the most complex and human-centred matters VMIA manages. As a Claims Specialist, you'll take responsibility for a portfolio of insurance claims involving sensitive historical issues, ensuring outcomes are timely, defensible, and client-centred.

You'll work closely with clients, advocacy groups, and legal partners to navigate claims with care and professionalism. It's work that requires resilience, empathy, and strong judgement — and it's supported by a team that understands the importance of peer support, supervision, and trauma-informed practice.

Why this role?

* Meaningful contribution: be part of claims that genuinely matter, handled with dignity and respect.
* Balance with purpose: work in a supportive public sector environment, with structures that prioritise safe practice and wellbeing.
* Collaboration and support: be part of a close-knit team committed to shared learning, resilience, and continuous improvement.
* Impact beyond resolution: help influence prevention and ensure taxpayer funds are used for the greatest community benefit.

What you'll bring

Success in this role is less about a single background and more about mindset and capability. You might come from insurance, legal, health, or another trauma-informed setting such as counselling or social work. What matters most is that you can:

* Manage complex, sensitive claims with discretion and empathy.
* Apply trauma-informed practice and maintain resilience in the face of challenging subject matter.
* Exercise sound judgement and confidentiality in high-stakes or reputationally sensitive cases.
* Collaborate across legal, advocacy, and government stakeholders.
* Maintain professional boundaries while supporting claimants through difficult processes.

How to apply

To apply, please submit your CV and a cover letter outlining your motivation and alignment with the role. We're running a short and targeted campaign, and applications will close on Friday, 3rd October 2025 .
