AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we're looking for talented people who want to help.
Key Responsibilities
* Escalation point and technical troubleshooter for all systems and problems
* Deep dive into Linux server issues
* Remediation of physical layer outages, both systems & network
* Remediation or recovery of physical power issues on racks and participation in data center power & cooling events
* Shift work (4 days on and 4 days off including night shifts on a rotational basis)
* Install and configure racks of hosts in line with internal SLAs
* Triage and resolve trouble tickets for all devices in your region
* Physical replacement of server and network device parts
* Ensure correct rotation of parts and spares
* Enforce Amazon's security best practices
* Interact with third‐party vendors and contractors
* Engage with Remote Hands & Eyes in EU Regional CloudFront POPs
* Participate in and deliver on a number of high‐impact small to mid‐scale projects
* Physical component requiring the ability to lift and rack equipment using our lifting equipment
* May require working in cramped spaces or in elevated locations while adhering to health & safety guidelines
* Must possess a valid driver's license and own vehicle to travel between sites
Basic Qualifications
* 2+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience
* 1+ year of computer networking experience
* High school or equivalent diploma
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure
* Knowledge of server hardware and components
* Hands‐on experience with one or more of the following hardware platforms (e.g., Dell, HP, Supermicro) is a plus
