Wildlife Veterinary Specialist Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Wildlife Veterinary Specialist to join our team at the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital.

As a leading wildlife hospital in Australia, we provide gold standard care for native wildlife and have a strong commitment to education, conservation, and research.

* Triage assessment and veterinary care of sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife admitted to the AZWH
* Maintaining the highest standard of animal welfare
* Compliance with all relevant legislation including the Nature Conservation Act, the Animal Welfare Act, COP for Wildlife in QLD, and Queensland Health Regulations

Animal welfare is a priority, and responsibility for personal safety when working with wild animals is critical. Customer service is an important part of the position with a need to communicate positively with the public, the media, VIPs, and other staff to promote conservation and education.

The ideal candidate will possess:

* A degree in veterinary science registrable in Queensland
* A minimum of 2 years working in private practice
* A minimum of 2 years' experience working with Australian wildlife in a veterinary capacity
* Have or be eligible to obtain a license to use radiation sources (diagnostic veterinary radiography) from Queensland Health
* Have relevant vaccinations for working in the wildlife industry (Tetanus, Lyssavirus, Q fever)
* Good knowledge of emergency medicine principles, ultrasonography, and surgical procedures and a methodical and sound diagnostic approach

Key Requirements:
- Possess a degree in veterinary science registrable in Queensland
- Have a minimum of two years working in private practice
- Have a minimum of two years' experience working with Australian wildlife in a veterinary capacity
- Be eligible to obtain a license to use radiation sources from Queensland Health
- Possess relevant vaccinations for working in the wildlife industry
- Demonstrate good knowledge of emergency medicine principles, ultrasonography, and surgical procedures
