About the Client:
Government agency tasked with making life easier, accessible, and equitable for thousands of individuals and families across Australia. Our client is currently seeking an experienced Specialist in the Technical Accounting and Auditing space to assist on a 12-month temporary assignment.
About the role
1. Development of technical accounting position papers and accounting policy requirements in accordance with Australian accounting standards and other relevant Commonwealth guidance and requirements.
2. Liaison with external auditors (Australian National Audit Office (ANAO)) on technical accounting and audit related issues and topics.
3. Development of negotiating strategies and management policy positions for the Agency in response to ANAO issues and topics as required.
4. Assistance and advice for planning and research for Financial Statement and Year-End Audit preparation.
5. Assistance and advice with other ad-hoc accounting policy and advice, as required.
About you:
* You must hold Degree qualifications in Accounting, Finance, and Auditing, and hold CPA/CA qualifications.
* You will have experience working with ANAO Audit Queries, response development, and developing Technical Accounting Position Papers.
* You will have previous experience in preparing Financial Statements and Year-End Audit documentation.
* You will have extensive experience working with accounting principles and policies—ideally with exposure to government policy.
* You will have strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to communicate at all levels.
* You will have extensive accounting leadership experience, ideally in a large government organization or other large, regulated organization.
Benefits
* ASAP start date pending Federal Police clearance.
* Casual 12-month temporary assignment.
* Full-time hours, Monday to Friday.
* $100.56 per hour + super / $754.20 per day + super.
