Background
Volleyball Australia (VA) is the peak body for the administration of the sport of Volleyball in
Australia. VA's Mission is to lead, partner and support the growth in participation,
performance and profile of the sport in Australia. VA is the organisational body responsible
for the delivery of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships Adelaide 2025 (Adelaide
BVWC).
VA work closely with key stakeholders for the event including the FIVB & Volleyball
World. The FIVB is the global sports body governing volleyball as one of the most widely
played sports in the world, and it represents 222 affiliated national federations world-wide.
Volleyball World is responsible for the hosting and delivery of the FIVB Beach Volleyball
World Championships in conjunction with the local organiser, with the competition and rules
of the game governed by the FIVB.
The Beach Volleyball World Championships will be held in Adelaide, Australia from 14 to 23
November 2025.
This prestigious global event will attract 192 of the world's elite beach
volleyball players, competing at the highest level in the heart of Adelaide. As one of the
most significant events in international beach volleyball, the championships will deliver
intense competition and a vibrant atmosphere, bringing the excitement of beach sports to a
dynamic urban setting. The event is poised to engage both dedicated fans of the sport and
a broader audience, making it a landmark event in Australia's sporting calendar.
The Role
We are seeking a hands-on Social Media & Content Manager to lead the planning, creation, and management of all digital content across Instagram, Facebook, and emerging platforms in the lead-up to and during the
FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships, Adelaide 2025 (BVWC)
.
The role will oversee content planning and delivery from concept to post, manage community engagement, and capture the energy of the Championships in real time. During the event, the Social Media & Content Manager will also lead a team of volunteer digital creators to maximise coverage and content output.
Job Responsibilities
* Develop and execute the social media strategy across all platforms in the lead-up and during the Championships.
* Plan and manage daily content – including reels, short-form video, photography, graphics, and stories.
* Collaborate with athletes, BVWC marketing and communications team, global volleyball channels, photographers, and videographers to deliver authentic and engaging storytelling.
* Create social-first video and visual content to grow audiences, increase engagement, and capture the festival atmosphere of the event.
* Recruit, brief, and manage a team of volunteer content creators during the event period, ensuring consistent coverage across matches, fan precincts, and activations.
* Manage community engagement and fan sentiment – including moderation of comments, messages, and real-time fan interaction.
* Produce and present reports on channel performance, content reach, and engagement.
* Work with event partners and sponsors to deliver and amplify branded content across organic and paid social channels.
Key Skills & Experiences
* Demonstrated experience managing social media accounts for a sports team, event, or brand.
* Strong knowledge of meta platforms
* Experience creating and editing video content for digital-first consumption.
* Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends during the event.
* Confident working in a live event environment with quick turnarounds and competing priorities.
* Strong copywriting, visual storytelling, and brand alignment skills.
* Team leadership experience (leading volunteers or small teams is a plus).
* Knowledge and experience of paid social a plus.

Work Conditions
Applicants must hold an existing Australian working visa or be an Australian
citizen/permanent resident to be considered.
Flexible work hours and conditions can be negotiated. The Championship delivery phase
will require extensive after hours and weekend work, particularly throughout October and
November 2025.
