The University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ) is seeking an exceptional leader to take on the role of Director, Marketing and National Student Recruitment.
Reporting to the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Engagement), this pivotal position sits within the Engagement Portfolio and is responsible for shaping and executing a unified, high-impact strategy that elevates the University’s brand, drives domestic student enrolments, and enhances UniSQ’s national visibility in an increasingly competitive higher education landscape. The successful candidate will steward the institution’s brand identity, digital footprint, and student acquisition strategies, ensuring that all activities are closely aligned with UniSQ’s strategic priorities and evolving market trends.
As Director, you will provide vision, leadership, and direction for the Marketing and Student Recruitment function, working collaboratively with a high-performing team across brand performance, national student recruitment, and the university website. You will oversee the development and governance of a strong and distinctive university brand, ensuring consistent messaging across all internal and external communications. Your remit will include leading the design and execution of data-driven, ROI-focused marketing campaigns, developing and implementing a cohesive national student recruitment strategy, and establishing sales strategies and tools to support student conversion efforts. You will also guide the evolution of UniSQ’s digital presence, with a particular focus on ensuring the website serves as a high-performing platform for discovery, engagement, and conversion.
The role demands a leader who can build strong collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, including faculties, student services, and executive leadership, to ensure marketing and recruitment efforts are fully integrated with academic offerings and student experience initiatives. You will be responsible for driving market research and audience insights to inform strategic decision-making, managing significant budgets, and optimising resource allocation across channels and initiatives. As a people leader, you will mentor and develop a high-performing team of marketing and recruitment professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and continuous improvement.
To be successful in this role, you will have a proven record of achievement in developing and executing marketing plans for large and complex organisations, as well as a deep understanding of the higher education sector and best-practice student recruitment strategies.
