The Role
As a Senior People and Culture Advisor, you can expect to work within a dedicated business unit that has a clear sense of purpose and understanding how you can individually contribute to the National Museum of Australia (NMA). The payroll team is committed to consistently improving services standards through innovation, systems and process enhancements. Working under limited direction, this role will have the relevant expertise and experience within APS Payroll, providing high quality payroll advice and support to managers and staff. With exceptional attention to detail, the successful candidate will have an inquisitive mind with an ability to use initiative and judgement. You will be an experienced technical officer who enjoys working in a complex, fast paced, and challenging environment. An ability to build rapport and maintain stakeholder relationships, including liaising with stakeholders to assist in resolving moderately complex issues is a major part of this role. You will make and communicate decisions within defined boundaries relating to the area of responsibility using expertise and knowledge, governed by legislation, regulations, best practice principles or relevant operating instructions and procedures, and strive for continued improvement.
Key Accountabilities
* Lead and manage a small pay team to deliver high quality payroll within the Museum.
* Developing and/or reviewing relevant policies, procedures, and personnel processes, and ensuring they are updated as required to remain current and accurate.
* Coordinating payroll projects that deliver ongoing improvements, quality of service and professional practices and standards.
* Apply technical and subject matter expertise to provide clear advice and support to stakeholders and clients on payroll queries.
* Analyse information and data, investigate anomalies between payroll activities and HR Systems, applying corrective action and escalating the more complex issues.
* Maintain accurate details in Aurion and on electronic personnel files in our Record Keeping System (Content Manager).
* Interpreting APS legislation, the Museum's workplace agreements and other relevant materials on employment conditions and entitlements, advising management and staff.
* Maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to make appropriate personnel decisions.
* Apply and promote customer service excellence to ensure that stakeholder needs and expectations are met and refer matters that require escalation to the appropriate service channels where necessary.
* Provide training and guidance to the APS5 People and Culture Advisor.
* Support the EL1 Manager, Payroll and Reporting Manager as required.
* Demonstrate a strong commitment to Work Health and Safety (WH&S) by actively supporting a positive safety culture, following the Museum's WHS policies and procedures, and complying with reasonable instructions to ensure alignment with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011
