Ecological Expert: Regional Ecosystem Assessment and Mapping
As a key member of our scientific team, you will participate in conducting ecological assessments of regional ecosystems. This includes validating mapping products, undertaking vegetation condition surveys, and conducting fieldwork for data collection and validation.
You will also contribute to research and development of new methods for mapping landscape attributes, including vegetation. Additionally, you will assist in procedures, reports, publications, and presentations, reporting data and results.
In this role, you will be part of a collaborative, diverse, and innovative environment, working closely with multi-skilled teams to make a positive impact on Queensland's biodiversity restoration and management.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Thorough knowledge of vegetation condition frameworks, biodiversity surveying, and mapping, including remotely sensed imagery interpretation, ecological and botanical field survey, and data management.
* Experience in organizing and conducting ecological field data collection using biodiversity assessment protocols.
* Knowledge of contemporary approaches for quality checking and implementing data management standards.
* Ability to develop and maintain open-source software and data management systems for spatial model outputs and remote sensing image data analysis.
* Capacity to deliver high-quality products and services with teamwork and ethical behavior.
