Football Data Analyst Role Summary:
This Football Data Analyst position is a critical role within our High-Performance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and maintaining automated data pipelines, managing internal databases and cloud-based storage solutions, and integrating multiple data sources to support on-field performance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design, build, and maintain automated data pipelines for ingesting, cleaning, and transforming football-related datasets (e.g., GPS, match stats, video metadata).
2. Manage internal databases and cloud-based storage solutions, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and security.
3. Integrate multiple data sources, including Champion Data, Catapult, Hudl, and Strength & Conditioning systems.
4. Enable analytical tools such as Tableau, R, Python, and SQL to connect to structured data sources.
5. Support the deployment of dashboards and reporting tools to assist coaches and physical performance staff.
6. Work collaboratively with analysts and coaches to understand data needs and enhance workflows.
7. Document data processes and provide training/support to team members on data access and use.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Proficiency in Python, SQL, and data pipeline frameworks.
* Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and database technologies.
* Familiarity with sports performance data formats and APIs (e.g., Champion Data, Catapult, Hudl).
* Understanding of data visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
* A commitment to accuracy, security, and continuous improvement.
* Tertiary qualification in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
* Experience in a high-performance sport or elite team environment.
* Familiarity with video analysis workflows and performance tracking systems.
