AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. Responsibilities
* Lead a team of highly qualified network development engineers and work with partner teams.
* Be a technical and solution‐oriented leader, able to deep‐dive and break down complex tasks.
* Ensure that Internet capacity design, management, implementation, and deployment operations are sound and executed at scale, safely keeping AWS ahead of Internet customer demand.
* Promote safe delivery through change control, automation, innovation, and operational excellence initiatives.
* Focus and manage operations and process optimization using relevant data, metrics and dashboarding techniques.
* Collaborate closely with internal customers, partner teams and other stakeholders on Internet capacity delivery operations, planning and initiatives.
* Drive operational excellence, creating sane processes and procedures to improve efficiency in day‐to‐day tasks and projects.
* Drive quality into metrics reported, create mechanisms to focus on high‐ROI areas, measuring Internet operational performance, availability, network capacity, trends, etc.
* Review and approve network changes, and develop detailed, low‐level understanding of network issues to represent them at operational management review meetings.
* Directly own defining, refining and delivering strategic goals for the team, communicating goals, aligning resources and reporting status to leadership.
* Own performance and career management for the team, including regular one‐on‐one meetings and mentoring.
* Recruit and hire quality personnel, coordinate with recruiting staff to evaluate candidates, conduct phone screens and provide guidance during interviews, and ensure proper training of new hires.
* Develop automation and set automation roadmap, identifying opportunities to tackle volume, systemic or critical operational issues.
* Participate in 12×7 management escalation rotation.
Basic Qualifications
* 5+ years of engineering experience.
* 5+ years of people management experience or relevant leadership experience.
* 3+ years of past experience with network operations either as a manager or individual contributor.
Preferred Qualifications
* Depth of experience creating and implementing high‐quality, high‐volume recruiting plans.
* Experience contributing to the creation and implementation of high‐quality, high‐volume recruiting plans.
* Experience presenting root‐cause analysis and error correction from operational events to senior management.
* Working knowledge and experience of developing operational metrics.
* Working knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, routing/switching & troubleshooting).
* In‐depth knowledge of networking.
* Experience representing your team/technical area to senior management.
* Experience in contributing to the definition and implementation of automation opportunities within an operations environment.
