About the role
The City of Gold Coast is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer (Flood Modeller) with strong TUFLOW modelling expertise to help deliver flood mitigation solutions for one of Australia's fastest-growing cities.
In this role, you will apply advanced 2D hydraulic modelling to real urban flood management projects that directly improve community safety and resilience. You will work within a multidisciplinary engineering team delivering practical stormwater and drainage solutions across the city, with opportunities to broaden your capability in stormwater infrastructure design.
Responsibilities include:
* Lead urban flood modelling projects using TUFLOW 2D hydraulic modelling.
* Use URBS and GIS to support hydrologic modelling and spatial analysis.
* Translate modelling outcomes into practical flood mitigation and stormwater infrastructure solutions.
* Prepare clear, defensible technical reports to communicate modelling outcomes to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Work closely with drainage designers on pit and pipe networks, culverts, swales and open channels.
* Support and mentor junior engineers and drafters.
* Contribute to improving modelling standards, workflows and integration with engineering design.
We're looking for people who have:
* A Bachelor of Engineering (Civil, Environmental, or related discipline).
* Demonstrated experience in TUFLOW flood modelling within urban environments.
* Experience with URBS and GIS platforms (desirable).
* Strong technical report writing and communication skills.
* Interest in applying modelling outcomes to practical drainage and flood mitigation design.
* RPEQ registration (desirable but not essential). Support will be provided to obtain registration if required.
* Current Queensland "C" Class driver's licence
* General Construction Induction Card White Card (desirable).
