The role
As a Senior Analyst in the Liquidity Risk team, you will be responsible for identifying, analysing and escalating key and emerging liquidity risks at individual regulated entities, and across the system more broadly. You will be a subject matter expert, delivering high quality insights grounded in sound judgement and analysis to inform and influence key stakeholders both internally and externally. You will be involved in a wide variety of key entity engagements and reviews across a cross-section of Authorised Deposit-Taking Institutions, including banks, building societies and credit unions, and other entities supervised by APRA, such as superannuation funds and insurance, leveraging colleagues across APRA, including frontline supervision team, other risk teams, and policy team.
The team
The Liquidity Risk Team sits within the Financial Risk Branch in APRA's Cross-Industry Risk Division (CRD). CRD brings together risk and system specialists who collaborate with frontline in supervising entities, and plays a key role in identifying risks and trends across industries and the financial system as a whole. The branches in CRD are organised into Financial Risk, Non-Financial Risk and System Risk. Risk classes include financial risk, non-financial risk, as well as thematic and system-wide work including stress-testing, macro-prudential policy and geopolitical risk.
Key responsibilities
* Delivering in-depth analysis, risk assessment and problem-solving in collaboration with other members of the Liquidity Risk team and internal stakeholders;
* Reviewing documents and reports pertaining to liquidity risk, deriving meaningful insights to support APRA's ongoing supervision;
* Identification of emerging risks and prioritisation of existing risks to ensure adequate coverage, providing sound assurance as to the resilience of the financial system;
* Maintain up-to-date and relevant knowledge of issues impacting liquidity risk profiles within regulated institutions and within the Australian financial systems;
* Contribute to the policy development related to liquidity risks; and
* Collaborate internally and externally to achieve broader APRA or industry outcomes.
About you
* Demonstrated experience in the areas of funding and liquidity risk management;
* Strong quantitative, analytical and modelling skills;
* Excellent organisational, self and priority management skills;
* Ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels of business, with strong interpersonal and communication skills;
* Excellent computer skills and proficiency in MS Suite (Excel, Power Point and Word);
* Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline; and
* Understanding of key regulatory standards for funding and liquidity is necessary.
