What you'll do:
The Irrigation Lead is a hands-on Irrigation & Agronomy Supervisor responsible for the day-to-day operation and management of our CSG (Coal Seam Gas) irrigation systems, agronomic programs, and field teams. In this role, you will ensure the effective use of coal seam water for irrigation while safeguarding soil and ecosystem health. Ensure reliable operation and maintenance of centre pivot and drip irrigation systems
Provide specialist agronomy support, with a focus on soil salinity/sodicity and pasture/plantation health
Support bushfire preparedness and lead on-ground response activities as needed
Liaise with livestock teams to ensure integration with irrigated pastures aligns with the annual livestock plan
Manage urgent out-of-hours issues relating to agricultural operations
Oversee compliance with Santos Management System (SMS), corporate governance, safety, and Delegation of Authority requirements
Operate within a budget of ~$5 million OPEX, with delegated authority of up to $100K
About You
You are an experienced frontline leader with strong irrigation and agronomic knowledge, able to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams in a safety-conscious, field-based environment.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Diploma or trade qualification in water, agriculture, mechanisation, or related field
Extensive experience managing field teams in an agricultural or irrigation setting
Strong knowledge of pressurised irrigation systems (centre pivot, drip)
Hands-on experience with agricultural plant and equipment
Demonstrated leadership with an inclusive, team-focused approach
Experience in safety-focused workplaces
Desirable experience includes design and installation of irrigation systems, operation and maintenance of control systems for pumps and irrigation, soil and pasture management, livestock operations, and bushfire preparedness and response, including conducting planned burns.
What you'll get:
Here, you'll be amongst high-calibre people and get to work on industry-leading projects. We don't shy away from solving tough problems at pace. We like it that way. You can expect to be challenged and supported; to learn and grow.
