The Role
As the WHS Lead, you'll take full ownership of the safety function across permanent, seasonal, and contract teams. This generalist role will see you working closely with directors and managers to implement, maintain, and continuously improve WHS systems across varied farm operations. This includes field inspections, incident management, Safe Ag platform oversight, and board-level reporting.
Key responsibilities include:
* Act as WHS advisor across all business units
* Implement & refine WHS policies, systems & risk registers
* Lead safety inspections, incident reviews & compliance audits
* Manage workers' compensation & return-to-work processes
* Coordinate contractor & labour hire inductions & compliance
* Facilitate training (e.g., first aid, machinery operations)
* Support a proactive, practical safety culture across teams
About You
We're seeking a hands-on WHS practitioner who brings strong legislative knowledge, practical insight, and confidence working across both systems and paddocks. You're proactive, people-focused and comfortable working autonomously in a role that spans operations, compliance and cultural leadership.
You will bring:
* Demonstrated WHS experience in agriculture or similar site-based sectors
* Strong understanding of Australian WHS legislation
* Proven capability in safety systems, risk assessments & compliance
* Injury management & workers compensation experience
* Excellent communication & stakeholder engagement skills
* A pragmatic, proactive and accountable approach
* Willingness to travel periodically (2-3 nights per month)
