Located attractively near the beach, Port Hedland Primary School (PS) is a Level 5 school of choice in the Hedland area with an enrolment base of 490 students. Our families mainly encompass those employed in the mining industry and in professional positions in the region. Port Hedland PS is welcoming, supportive, and offers a strong induction and mentoring program, collaborative professional learning teams, and a community of belonging with parent involvement.

Sitting in the heart of the Pilbara, Port Hedland offers coastal and desert landscapes with rich cultural history. Port Hedland is a gateway to exploring the Pilbara region and nearby national parks and outdoor activities.

The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and cutting-edge Science Teacher who will promote an inclusive program across all year levels, Pre-School – Year 6, in our dedicated Science room. You will engage with the school community to promote Science and STEM across the school and will work as part of a team with opportunities to moderate across the Hedland Schools network.

As this is a permanent position, we are looking for someone who works well across all year levels, has good classroom management, and can inspire students with a passion for science. The successful applicant will foster an inclusive environment that supports students to reach their full potential, applying evidence-based teaching and differentiation strategies to enhance student outcomes. An interest and experience in STEM areas is well regarded.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

- Deliver an engaging and differentiated Science curriculum aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum for diverse learners.
- Collaborate with colleagues to promote Science and STEM across the school.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; contribute to professional learning teams.
- Promote inclusive education and differentiate instruction to meet student needs.
- Possess passion for science education and willingness to foster hands-on learning experiences.
- Incorporate Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into lessons where appropriate.
- Qualifications: eligible teacher qualification and registration; relevant Australian teaching credentials.

Eligibility

- Eligible teacher qualification and registration
- Australian or New Zealand citizenship, permanent resident status, or valid visa with work rights for the term of the appointment
- WA Working with Children Check before start
- Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check with a current Screening Clearance Number
